Finding fun after cancelled plans

The original plan was to take a boat ride and bring along bicycles to explore our destination but there was rain and thunder the night before and little chance of good weather in the morning.  We still decided to show up at the dock and get the final word from the captain.  Sure enough, it was too windy and so many people canceled their reservations that the boat ride was canceled.  But no one wants to go home after preparing for a full day of adventures.  Instead, we drove into a direction I'd never been to before.  Anywhere was fine, I just didn't want to go home.  The wind may have canceled our fun but it was exactly what tons of kite surfers needed for their's.
